The idea of a website for the Magsingal people everywhere around the world and created by the people themselves, came out of a simple craving - a craving to reconnect with our roots.

I used to google Magsingal a lot just to see what entries there are about our town. I would read every single write-up there was no matter how obscure it may have seemed. Such was my longing to find anything that would somehow transport me back to our beloved hometown.

And I know I am not alone in feeling this way. When I broached the idea about the creation of an active Magsingal website, I was not disappointed in the amount of positive responses in support of the initiative. We were blessed to get an active participation from many of our earlier contributors, thanks for your show of support.

Let's shrink the world by inviting every Magsingaleno all over the globe to come to our virtual plaza. Unlike in the old days when we had to physically go to the plaza 'diay ili' to witness any important event or gathering, now we don't need to do that. In the current virtual world we're living in, we can be transported to the virtual plaza at a click of a mouse. Let's make this our hang-out. Enjoy it and look after it.

I once heard someone saying, "You grow up wanting to leave your hometown, and you grow old wanting to go back." That's exactly how I feel right now about Magsingal. I have been away from it since I finished high school. In fact, I just had an epiphany - I have lived outside Magsingal almost two times longer than the years I have lived there. But despite that, I still consider Magsingal home.
